Russia views Ukraine's Kursk incursion as a "major provocation" and has threatened to retaliate while it advances in the eastern Pokrovsk city. Zelenskyy has recently pushed for renewed peace negotiations on Ukrainian terms, and the incursion was part of the plan to pit pressure on Russia.
The 'glide bombs' are fitted with a navigation system telling them where to strike and are hard to intercept, making it a dangerous weapon in the ongoing war. The attack wounded at least 77 people, of whom 20 are in serious condition.
PM Modi visited Ukraine last week and discussed the situation there, among other topics, with US President Joe Biden on Monday. PM Modi is one of the few world leaders who has visited both Russia and Ukraine since the war broke out two-and-a-half years ago.
Zelenskyy's remarks came while addressing a press conference after meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Kyiv on Friday. He said that Putin will be forced to stop the war in Ukraine "if India changes its stance".
The visit comes amid ongoing conflict, with Ukrainian forces in Russia's western Kursk region and Russian advances in eastern Ukraine. Modi's visit follows a recent trip to Moscow, where he urged for a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
Zelenskyy visited the northeastern Sumy region on Thursday and said his troops had captured another settlement in Kursk. Russian President Vladimir Putin had promised a "worthy response" to Kyiv's unprecedented attack on Kursk over two weeks ago, which boosted Ukraine's morale.
"India does not believe in war, but in peace. India's concept is clear - this is not an era of war. This is the time to come together to deal with those challenges which pose the biggest threat to humanity," said PM Modi in Warsaw.
Ukraine launched an unprecedented cross-border incursion in Russia's southern Kursk region on August 6, catching Moscow off-guard. Russian MP Mikhail Sheremet blamed the West for aiding the attack and said it brought the world a step closer to a World War III.
The death toll in a massive Russian missile attack on Ukraine's capital Kyiv on Monday morning has risen to 20, local authorities said. The attack came nearly 24 hours before the NATO Summit was scheduled in Washington.
