Indian star shuttler Lakshya Sen registered a thumping win over?Jia Heng Jason Teh of Singapore to win the final of the?Syed Modi International 2024 on Sunday, December 1. Sen defeated the Singaporean?opponent with ease in straight games?21-6 21-7 to win his first title of 2024.
He bossed the proceedings throughout. Sen displayed his impeccable skills on the court and raced to an 8-0 lead in the first game. The Singaporean kept committing errors and had no answers to the top-seeded Sen. The Indian star won the first game with pretty ease 21-6.
He started in the same vein in the second game too. On the back of a relentless attacking game, Sen cruised to a 10-1 lead at the interval in the second game. While he dropped a few points, Sen went unfazed in his business. He?enjoyed his earlier advantage and went on to clinch the second game and the title when Teh sent one long.
Earlier, veteran shuttler PV Sindhu won the final in the women's category after beating?China's Wu Luo Yu in the final?21-14, 21-16.?
Sindhu looked pretty strong and dominated the Chinese opponent throughout the match. She unfurled her shots well and hardly gave a chance to Yu Wu. She bossed the match from right from the start and won the opening game by a decent margin of 21-14. The Chinese looked to pose a threat for a decider when she tied Sindhu on 10-10. But the 29-year-old Indian displayed her class and closed the game with ease. She was elated after the win as the fans cheered for her. This was Sindhu's first title since winning the Singapore Open in July 2022.
Earlier, Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand clinched their first Super 300 title at the Syed Modi International 2024 after beating China's Bao Li Jing and Li Qian in the final. The Indian pair defeated their Chinese opponents 21-18, 21-11 to win the final in just 40 minutes.?
