Reliance Jio has rolled out new plans for its 5G fixed-wireless access (FWA) service, Jio AirFiber. The service is now available in close to 7000 towns and cities of India. The new plans are data booster plans and are targeted at subscribers who have exhausted their fair usage policy (FUP) data limit of 1TB. Here are all the details you need to know.?

Jio AirFiber data booster plans

Reliance Jio's AirFiber service offers three data sachet or data vouchers with prices starting at Rs 101. There are two other vouchers available for Rs 251 and Rs 401. These vouchers provide additional data to the customer's existing plan without impacting the speed of the original plan.

The Rs 101 voucher includes 100GB of data and is valid for the duration of the active plan. The Rs 251 voucher offers 500GB of data and shares the same validity as the customer's original plan. Lastly, the Rs 401 voucher provides 1TB of data and remains valid for the same duration as the customer's original plan.

Meanwhile, recently, there has been a rapid expansion of 5G networks and services in India as more people are turning to 5G for high-speed internet. Both Jio and Airtel have rolled out 5G services in most cities, although they have yet to launch any 5G plans and are currently offering free 5G data to users. However, there has been a significant update regarding the network's data speed.

A recent report has indicated that as 5G is being promoted, its network quality is declining. The report revealed that as companies are rapidly developing 5G networks, the download speed is also seeing a significant drop.

According to Opensignal's report on the 5G network in India, the average download speed of 5G decreased from 304 Mbps in the first quarter of 2023 to 280.7 Mbps in the fourth quarter of the same year.

During the first quarter of this year, the download speed was particularly low during peak hours, possibly due to the heavy use of 5G data for tasks such as OTT streaming, gaming, and online shopping. This increased usage may be a major reason for the drop in download speed.
