The Congress party on Friday, September 6, announced its decision to appoint B. Mahesh Kumar Goud as the chief of the party's Telangana unit. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the All India Congress Committee released a statement detailing that the decision to appoint Goud as PCC chief was made by Congress President and Rajya Sabha MP Mallikarjun Kharge.
The statement read, "Congress President has appointed B. Mahesh Kumar Goud as the President of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee with immediate effect."
Significantly, the Congress committee's statement also acknowledged the contributions of the outgoing PCC President and Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.
Meanwhile, it is pertinent to note that Goud's appointment as PCC chief comes days after Congress president Kharge and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi held a meeting with top Telangana Congress leaders, including Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu, to discuss organizational structural changes in the state.
