
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister on Wednesday emphasised the state government’s commitment to driving progress and innovation after holding a special Cabinet meeting in Prayagraj. Addressing a press conference after the meeting, he?unveiled a series of impactful decisions aimed at bolstering the state's healthcare and urban infrastructure. The highlight of the announcements was the approval for the construction of medical colleges in Hathras, Baghpat, and Kasganj under the PPP (Public-Private Partnership) model.
In addition, CM Yogi also announced to provide free smartphones and tablets to youths of the state. Further, he also revealed?the decision to issue municipal bonds for Prayagraj, Varanasi, and Agra municipal corporations. This comes after the successful bond issuances in Lucknow and Ghaziabad. These bonds are expected to generate funds for enhancing urban infrastructure and ensuring sustainable growth in these cities, the CM stated.?
'Revamping policies and attracting investment'
In the press conference, CM Yogi shared that discussions were held on various developmental issues, including the Aerospace, Defense, and Employment Policy 2024. The policy, initially introduced in 2018, is now being revised after five years to align with evolving needs. He also spoke about the FDI investments in the state, emphasizing a major Rs 10,000 crore investment in Mirzapur and Moradabad.?
Infrastructure development and connectivity
The Chief Minister also highlighted ongoing and future infrastructure projects, including the expansion of the Ganga Expressway, which will connect with the Purvanchal Expressway and be integrated with the National Highway connecting Chandauli to Sonbhadra. He emphasised that traffic management challenges in Prayagraj are being addressed, with efforts underway to connect Lucknow and Raebareli to Prayagraj under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
CM Yogi to take dip in Sangam
After the meeting, the entire Cabinet will travel from the Arail VIP Ghat to the Sangam by motorboats. At the Sangam, CM Yogi, deputy CMs Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak and other Cabinet members will perform rituals and take a holy dip, an official statement said. This isn't the first time CM Yogi has led his cabinet to the Sangam. In 2019, during the Kumbh Mela, he took a ceremonial dip along with his ministers, Akhada Parishad President Narendra Giri, and other saints.
